EMO celebrates a topping-out ceremony in Eemshaven

On 10th January, EMS Maritime Offshore BV (EMO) celebrated the topping-out ceremony of their second building in Eemshaven. The ground-breaking ceremony for the new Offshore Service Base at Beatrixhaven had been held in November 2017.

After the traditional topping-out speech held by Mr Enne Zweepe from the Kooi construction company based in Appingedam, EMO Managing Director Knut Gerdes held a speech. Gerdes emphasised in his address that the time schedule for the construction had been very ambitious and called for dovetailed planning and implementation. The decision to rely on familiar, regional partners paid off. Particularly due to the reliable work conducted by the Kooi construction company, no delays are to be expected in spite of the winter weather. The construction project is right on schedule.

The almost 500m² office complex with an adjacent warehouse area comprising 600m² is to be rented from May this year by the Merkur Offshore GmbH project enterprise, operators of the “Merkur” offshore wind farm of the same name, which is currently being erected in the German North Sea.  The infrastructure is utilised by the wind energy facility manufacturers GE Renewable Germany GmbH, which is installing 66 of its systems of the “Haliade 150” type with a capacity of 6 MW each in the wind farm.

This building is the second Service Base Facility for the EMO in Eemshaven. The site at Beatrixhaven, not far from the AG “Ems” Borkumlijn, still offers some construction areas and free spaces. Up until now, the EMO has invested approx. EUR 3 mio. into the location.
