Foundation stone laid for offshore base in Eemshaven

On 27th May 2016 EMS Maritime Offshore (EMO) and Siemens Nederland N.V. laid the foundation stone for the offshore service base in Eemshaven. The general contractor for execution of the construction is the Dutch construction company Kooi from Appingedam. The client’s requirements have been implemented based on a draft created by the architects and consultants of Ingenieurberatung Bröggelhoff from Emden; Michael Baumfalk as Head of Technology at EMO has taken on the supervision of the construction.

The buildings and grounds are spread across an area of 3,500 m2; the construction itself consists of office and hall areas totalling 1,000 m2. It completely fulfils the requirements for an offshore wind park service hub. These requirements are based on a detailed list of specifications produced by the client, Siemens, and have been enhanced due to the experience and know-how of the EMO Group.

Regarding the water connection, a floating jetty system measuring 2 x 150 m in length was realised in September 2015. At the terminal property in Beatrixhaven (harbour), where the water is deep enough for ocean-going vessels, a total of 30,000 m2 is available for further settlements to be established.

The building should be operational for Siemens by October 2016. The project involves an investment of approximately EUR 1.3 mio.
